Ahead of Bihar assembly elections, speculations are rife with the possibility of miffed RJD leader and former Union minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh likely to join Janata Dal (United).
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav's meeting with Raghuvansh Prasad Singh in a Delhi hospital on Sunday failed to mollify him as he refused to take back his resignation as vice-president of the party.
Singh resigned as the party's vice-president in June after Tejashwi Yadav tried to rope in his arch-rival and former Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) MP Rama Singh into the party fold.
Failure of Raghuvansh Prasad Singh and Tejashwi Yadav meet has now triggered speculation of the founder member of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) likely to join Janata Dal (United).
Why is Raghuvansh Prasad Singh angry?
1. The biggest reason for Raghuvansh Prasad Singh's displeasure is Rashtriya Janata Dal is not sending him to the Rajya Sabha earlier this year. Singh has been politically marginalized since he lost the Lok Sabha elections in 2014 against LJP's Rama Singh. He was expecting that he well be sent to Rajya Sabha but RJD supremo Lalu Prasad chose Amrendra Dhari Singh and Premchand Gupta over him.
2. Tejashwi Yadav's attempt to rope in Raghuvansh Prasad Singh's arch-rival and former LJP MP Rama Singh into RJD. Vaishali parliamentary constituency has been represented by both these leaders in the past. In 2014, Rama Singh defeated Raghuvansh Prasad Singh in the Lok Sabha elections from this seat.
3. Raghuvansh Prasad Singh's displeasure with state president Jagdanand Singh. It is believed that Singh is not happy with the working style of Jagadanand Singh.

The RJD leader, who is currently undergoing treatment at Delhi-AIIMS for Covid-19, is likely to take decision regarding his next political move once he is discharged.
Meanwhile, JD-U spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan said, "Tejashwi Yadav has ignored Raghuvansh Prasad Singh on several occasions and tried to humiliate him. Despite meeting Tejashwi Yadav, Raghuvansh Prasad Singh remains hurt and he also does not like the party atmosphere. Raghuvansh Prasad Singh may leave RJD very soon. If he joins the Janata Dal (United), it will good for us."
On the other hand, RJD is hopeful the senior leader will not switch sides.
"Raghuvansh Prasad Singh is a socialist and founder member of the party. He has always fought against the communal forces and we are confident that he will not let this fight weaken. We are very hopeful that Raghuvansh Prasad Singh will not switch sides," said Rashtriya Janata Dal spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari.
